Soso, doch schon 1.7.0 released... sind's doch schneller, als ich dachte. Mal schauen & die bzr-Version compilieren... (wobei die EQs wahrscheinlich immer noch CPU ohne Ende fressen)

Checkt mal die Software, find ich persönlich eine Hammer Alternative gegen FinalScratch/Serator/Traktor/...

Das ganze ist völlig kostenlos, und man benötigt keine zusätzliche Hardware wenn man es timecoded steuern möchte.


Das Design schreckt vielleicht ein bisschen ab, aber es geht doch eh um den Sound.

Werd mir jetzt mal 2 Serato Timecode Vinyls besorgen (die sollen am besten funktionieren), eine Maya 44 USB und das ganze testen.

erzähl dann mal, ob das ganze stabil rennt mit timecode vinyls. Würde mich sehr interessieren.

bei timecode systemen gehts doch immer auch irgendwie um die passende harware...sprich ein handliches externes soundkarterl dazu wo man nicht viel herumstecken muss etc...

für mich is das irgendwie eine kombination.

du musst ja die die plattenspieler auch irgendwie riaa entzerrt reinbekommen. deshalb hab ich mir auch das kleine traktor scratch geholt...

aber is natürlich eine feine sache wenn sowas gscheit funktioniert, und os is...

werd mir das auch mal anschaun...obs was im vergleich zum traktor kann...

soo nach langer Zeit endlich mal dazu gekommen.

Setup:
2x Serato Final Scratch LP's
2x Technics
1x Pioneer DJM
1x Maya 44 USB
1x Macbook
1x mixxx 1.7.2
2x cinch-kabel

ganz so einfach war es nicht, das ganze anzuschließend und zu konfigurieren ... gibt auch nicht wirklich eine Anleitung dazu

Die Soundkarte kommt an das Macbook (eh klar), die Turntables kommen in 1+2 bzw. 3+4 line in der Soundkarte.
1+2 bzw. 3+4 line-out von der Soundkarte kommen in das line-in der channels (ggf. 1 und 2) des Mixers.

Jetzt kommt das Geheimnis: die Software unterstützt keinen externen Mixer!
Kann man aber einfach umgehen:

In der Audio-out-Konfig der Software legt man den Master-out auf 1+2 (Deck1) und den Headphone-out auf 3+4 (Deck2!)
jetzt muss man nur mehr (in mixxx) den Crossfader zu 100% auf Deck1 schieben und auf Deck2 das Headphone cuing aktivieren.

Merkwürdiger workaroung - funktioniert aber bestens! Man kann auch zwischen relative und absolute mode switchen, als Latenz hab ich mal 11ms eingestellt.. funktioniert perfekt...

kann ich nur empfehlen, werd es jetzt mal ausgiebig testen und in naher Zukunft dann einmal live damit performen

btw: hab mich auch schon als developer angemeldet, da ich c++ mal gelernt hab

The Mixxx development team has released Mixxx 1.9.0, an update to the free, open source DJ application that adds several major new features, including Shoutcast support, direct deck outputs for external mixers, and ReplayGain normalization.

Other open source applications may be cool, but can you rock the house with Linux? Can you get the party started with Apache?

We think not.

* Shoutcast / Icecast support
o Mixxx can now broadcast over the internet (heavily requested feature)
* External Mixer Support
o The new Sound Hardware preferences pane allows you to route each playback deck separately, which allows you to use Mixxx with an external mixer.
* ReplayGain normalization
o A user from our forum worked closely with our developers to fully implement volume normalization, including performing the ReplayGain analysis for tracks which are not tagged.
* Waveform Gain
o The scrolling waveforms now scale according to the channel gain for better visual feedback.
* Key lock buttons
o Formerly known as “pitch-independent time stretch”, there are now easily accessible key-lock buttons for each for deck.
* Revamped default skin
o Since the original source material for the Outline Netbook skin was lost eons ago, our artist completely redid it from scratch and tweaked it for better visibility. The new skin has also added EQ kill switches.
* HSS1394 support (Windows, OS X)
o Mixxx now supports firewire HSS1394 MIDI devices such as the Stanton SCS.1 series.
* Improved FLAC support
o We’re now using libFLAC directly for smoother FLAC decoding.
* Revamped metadata parsing
o Integration of TagLib allows Mixxx to parse more metadata from songs, and do it more consistently.
* Metadata writing
o Mixxx can now write changes in song metadata back to disk. This feature is off by default, and can be enabled in the Library preferences pane.
* Millisecond time display
o The time counters in Mixxx now have an extra millisecond display.
* Library improvements:
o Played column – The library now indicates whether a song has been played in the current session already, and also counts the total number of times the song has been played.
o Ratings column – 5 stars, no stars, or anywhere in between.
o Better search – Search now searches in more columns, and by-term instead of by-phrase.
o Revamped iTunes integration – A rewrite yielded a significant speedup of iTunes parsing.
o Faster library scanning – The library scanner should perform much better on large libraries.
o Inline Editing – Double click any item in the track table to edit its contents.
o Recording to MP3/Ogg – Now your recordings can be saved in either MP3 or Ogg/Vorbis format.

Ach ja: Wer sich mit Unix auskennt, keine Angst vor'm selbercompilieren hat und einfach nur zwei timecode-decks ohne Schnickschnack und bloat braucht, der sollte sich unbedingt xwax http://www.xwax.co.uk anschauen! Bombenstabil (das kann man von mixxx nämlich ned immer behaupten), frisst alles an Musik für die es einen FormatX->WAV-Decoder gibt [ich hab damit schon die Audiospuren aus FLVs gemixt] und laut usermeinungen sogar für turntableism geeignet. Läuft mit Serato-, Traktor- und MixVibes-Vinyls bzw. -CDs. Braucht aber einen externen Mixer.
(die timecode-engine in Mixxx basiert übrigens auf dem xwax-code...)

dieses xwax sieht ja sehr cool aus und für mich eig wie ideal (linux-user, vinyl-DJ), da ich es nur benutzen würde um tracks, die ich nicht auf platte habe zu spielen. Loops, sync und solche sachen brauche ich eh ned.^^

brauchen würde ich allerdings noch eine soundkarte, was wäre denn da zu empfehlen? klar, NI interfaces sind sicher tauglich, aber auch etwas teuer... hat da jemand ne alternative parat?

Hmmm... allgemeine Informationen zu unterstützten Soundkarten unter Linux gibt's auf http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main.
Zum DJing kann ich dir so direkt jetzt keine empfehlen -- ich hab das Multiface II von RME und das spielt schon in einer höheren Liga als die NI Interfaces (auch preislich) und ist eigentlich für's reine Auflegen überdimensioniert (aber bombenstabil und mit extremst niedrigen Latenzen -> super fürs producing).
