Access Music is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the Virus TI2 series. The successor of the acclaimed range of totally integrated synthesizers adds 25% more calculating power and sports a redesigned housing and front panel. Access also used new materials to bring down the weight of the keyboard versions. On the software side of things, a major feature update, OS3, will be available by the time you read this. The new operating system adds several new FX such as a Tape Delay, Frequency Shifter and several new Distortion algorithms along with a new feature called Character.

Character allows you to adjust the overall tone of a preset reminiscent of several vintage and well-known synthesizers. In addition you can emphasis certain aspects of the patch to allow it to cut better through the mix, or fade it into the background with an extra-wide stereo field. The new distortions were built from scratch and feature an extreme dynamic range along with sophisticated controls to tailor the sound to your specific needs. They can add everything from warm, tube-like overtones to complete sonic deconstruction more reminiscent of circuit-bending. The new algorithms also include a revamped bit and sampling-rate reduction, allowing you to change the quality and cutoff point with precise, continuously variable control.

The stereo Frequency Shifter and the new Ring Modulator are state of the art algorithms modelled with old '70s stomp boxes in mind.

The Tape Delay goes way beyond the possibilities of the real Tape Delays in the '60s and '70s. It smoothly syncs to tempo, lets you decide if a Doppler effect takes place when changing the tempo, and even switching the delay time between presets is all smooth, making it perfect for performers. Last but not least, a modification to the main "VCA" algorithm enables OS3 users to design gating FX known from electro and minimal influenced music.




Virus Control has received a completely redesigned user-interface thanks to various improvement requests over the last years. The plug-in now features a side chain input allowing you to mangle audio from a sequencer track with the FX and sound engine of the hardware Virus (for selected hosts only).

The best news, however, is that OS3 is compatible with all legacy Virus TIs and the Virus TI Snow, thus enabling Access' vast user base to update their existing instruments with all the new software features totally free of charge.

OS3 will be available immediately. The Virus TI2, which comes in the following flavours will also be available shortly after NAMM.

Auf der Softwareseite gibt es ein großes Update mit OS3, das auch als öffentliche Beta erhältlich ist. Das neue Betriebssystem bietet neue Funktionen wie die Effekte Tape Delay, Frequency Shifter und diverse neue Verzerrungsalgorithmen sowie ein neuer Parameter namens "Character".


Der neue Parameter "Character" des Virus TI2 erlaubt die Einstellung des allgemeinen Klangs in Erinnerung an alte analoge Synthesizer. Zudem können verschiedene Aspekte des gewählten Patchs betont werden, um besser durch den Mix durchzuklingen oder eher im Hintergrund zu verschwinden mit einem extrabreiten Stereofeld.

Die neuen Distortion Effekte sind von grund auf neu programmiert worden und bieten ein große Dynamik zusammen mit umfangreichen Möglichkeiten zum Anpassen des Klangs an die eigenen Vorstellungen. Der Virus TI2 bietet hier alles von warmen, röhrenartigen Obertönen bis zur totalen Zerstörung in Richtung Circuit-Bending. Die neuen Algorithmen bieten ebenfalls eine verbesserte Bit und Sampling-Rate Reduktion.


Die neuen Effekte des Virus TI2 "Frequency Shifter" und "Ring Modulator" sind laut Hersteller state of the art Algorithmen, die nach dem Vorbild alter Stomps aus den Siebzigern gestaltet wurden.

Das Tape Delay hingegen geht über die Funktionalität alter Geräte hinaus: Es kann zum Tempo synchronisiert werden und lässt auf Wunsch einen Doppler Effekt beim Ändern des Tempos zu. Schließlich bringt das neue Betriebssystem OS3 des Virus TI2 einen neuen VCA Algorithmus, der es Nutzern erlaubt einen Gate-Effekt zu realisieren, wie er von den Musikstilen Elektro und Minimal bekannt ist.

Virus Control hat mit diesem Update ein völlig neues Aussehen bekommen, das auf den Wünschen langjähriger Nutzer basiert. So bietet das Plugin nun einen Sidechain Eingang, der es erlaubt das Signal des Virus TI2 durch andere Spuren aus dem Sequencer zu steuern. Wie der Hersteller bekannt gibt, ist die neue Software OS3 abwärtskompatibel mit allen Virus TIs sowie dem Virus TI Snow, womit auch mit dem neuen Modell Virus TI2 auf die große Datenbank mit Sounds und Presets zurückgegriffen werden kann.

3 main oscillators and one suboscillator per voice
The Access Virus TI2 Desktop features three main oscillators and one sub-oscillator per voice. Each main oscillator can be made up of various oscillator types, including Hyper Saw (a multi saw-tooth oscillator with up to 9 stacked oscillators, 9 sub oscillators, and a sync oscillator at the same time), Classic Virtual Analog oscillators (saw, variable pulse, sine, triangle, 62 spectral waves with several FM modes), Graintable, Wavetable (with 100 multi-index wavetables), and Format oscillators

Two fully independent filters and 2-dimensional modulation matrix
You can use two fully independent filters with the Access Virus TI2 Desktop - lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and bandstop) while using an optional saturation module between both filter blocks. The saturation module can add one of several distortions and lo-fi effects, or an additional low/highpass filter. There's also optional self-resonating Moog cascade filter simulation, with circuit overload and 1-4 poles. What's more, the Access Virus TI2 Desktop offers a 2-dimensional modulation matrix, with 6 slots (1 source and 3 modulation targets each), and you can modulate parameters in realtime.

Each patch contains its own arpeggiator pattern
Every patch onboard the Access Virus TI2 keyboard features its own arpeggiator pattern with 32 programmable steps (length and velocity can be adjusted per step) and a global control for swing/shuffle timing and for note lengths. You can control all of this using the modulation matrix.

Premium redesigned enclosure, lighter in weight
The new Access Virus TI2 Desktop retains is classy look - all designed, engineered, and built in Germany. It also features a lighter weight, so the Virus TI2 Desktop is even more prepared for the stage.

ich hab beim virus nie verstanden, warum sie ihm nur 2 envelopes verpasst haben, und das 5 evolutionsstufen lang...

die beta läuft bei mir schon recht gut, bin schon gespannt auf die fertige

etwas enttäuschend finde ich das es noch keine Vista 64 Bit Treiber gibt, also die TI Software lässt sich nicht auf einem Vista 64 bit installieren, da bleibt nur die gute alte Midi Variante

About TIOS 3.0.1.10 Public Beta

3.0.1.10 is a maintenance release and is recommended for every Virus TI owner. Audio side chaining is currently not supported in Steinberg Cubase.
The VST3 version shouldn't be used in a productive environment.
