Benjamin Arend, nato nel 1981 a San Francisco, è ben noto come uno dei tre padri fondatori della nuova scena hard techno tedesca.
La sua carriera artistica è decollata ad una velocità sorprendente. Nel 1999 compone le prime tracce e le diffonde attraverso internet.
Il suo primo disco stampato su vinile è datato 2002 e segna la rinascita della storica label Gigamusic, di cui diventa co-proprietario qualche anno
dopo. Grazie anche al successo riscontrato, immediatamente stampa un disco sulla Kne'Deep, label di Dj Rush, ed entra a far parte della omonima
agenzia. Da quel momento sarà un susseguirsi di date nei più importanti festival come I Love Techno, Mayday, Syndicate, Time Warp, Decibel, Monegros
e molti altri, suonando praticamente in tutta Europa e non solo. Nel 2005 abbandona la Kne'Deep per portare avanti il suo stile senza
pressioni e fonda la "Artillery Bookings" che diventa label ed agenzia di riferimento in cui entrano a far parte i maggiori esponenti della scena.
Da sempre copiato e preso come artista di riferimento, Amok è in continua evoluzione musicale e, con la formazione in musica classica avuta da bambino
che ancora continua ad influenzare il suo stile di oggi, ha messo a punto uno stile unico, estremo e sofisticato che esprime delle caratteristiche
particolari non facilmente ritrovabili in altri dj.

Benjamin Arend, born 1981 in San Francisco, discovered his love for music at the age of 5 years old. At this age he listened to the works of Wagner and Beethoven and even learned to play the violin. Unfortunately he had to give up the violin in favor of his schoolwork. It wasn't until the age of 18, that he discovered techno at the local clubs in Frankfurt, which he visited with his friends Sven Wittekind and ViperXXL. Techno resurrected his love for music, and after an unfortunate turn of events in his life, anger and passion led to the
creation of the Project DJ Amok.
In the year that followed, he started experimenting with music software and spread his early tracks on the internet, where they where very successful on places like mp3.com.
During this time, he developed his own impression of techno and the sound he is known for today: extremly hard, thundering techno. The word spread fast and soon his first
release on Giga-Music followed. The mark had been made and from there on he was on a mission.
In 2003 he released 20 Vinyls (incl remixes, v/a and ghostproductions) and also started his label Artillery with the famous "Nightmare EP", which is considered to be one of the
records that fueled the Hardtechno movement. Two more labels followed. After the success of Nightmare, Amok began his DJ career, which rapidly took off and led exhausted
crowds all over Europe and even to America, peaking with I Love Techno. Other highlights include Awakenings NL, DefQon1 NL, U60 GER, Footworx BE, M47 HU, Montagood Festival ES and Club r_aw NL. What's next? 2005 sees a load of new releases including some very interesting collabroations, lots of great partys and his first self-organized event. As Amok
likes to say "This is just the beginning."
