2010 NAMM Show: Serato and Ableton have announced plans to work together to conquer the DJ world:

DJs, remixers and producers on the forefront of technology, watch out. Serato and Ableton are happy to announce a partnership which will pave the way for the future of Digital DJing.

With shared artist rosters from hip-hop (DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Nu-Mark, A-Trak) to electronica (Paul Van Dyk, DJ Sasha), both Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live are renowned as the premier performance platforms in clubs around the globe.

While Serato's Scratch Live excels in vinyl emulation, music library control and lightning quick hands-on scratching, Ableton Live provides the tools for production, on-the-fly remixing and beat creation.

The initial focus appears to be bring vinyl control to Live.

"Ableton and Serato take different approaches to modern musical performance," says Ableton CEO Gerhard Behles, "But both companies live by the philosophy that software should be straightforward, easy to use, and most importantly, reliable and stable onstage and in the studio. Ableton has never had an answer for the DJ who wants vinyl control, and rather than try to emulate what Serato do so well, we simply make sure that our products work well together."

They've also created a new site for the collaboration – Ableton-Serato.com.

Auch wenn ich jetzt wegen meinem maschine-reinfall nicht der NI-fan schlechthin bin, ich haette lieber eine integration von traktor scratch ins ableton interface gesehen, imo die beste momentan erhaeltliche dj software...

ableton produziert den sound und serato macht selbstständig die übergänge !

was mir immer an geht bei ableton:
immer neue nette features -wie etwa das mit dem serato - aber jahrelang geforderte basic sachen werden nicht umgesetzt - wie etwa umgang mit SYSEX! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/crazy.gif)

wie auch immer für mich war ableton eh schon immer der übersequencer für techno - geile features aber mankos an den basics...

so wie ich das sehe hat man jetzt die möglichkeit direkt in ableton per timecode seine tracks zu steuern, nicht revolutionär aber eine kampfansage an alle sequenzer hersteller und Traktor!

So, jetzt isses raus auf der ableton homepage: das baby heisst "the bridge" und kostet 0 euro, vorausgesetzt man besitzt live 8 und serato scratch/itch, keine integration in lives interface. Das wars mit meinem interesse,...

Ableton and Serato announced The Bridge at NAMM 2010 in Anaheim, California.

The Bridge is designed to span the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live/ITCH.

The Bridge works in both directions:

• Ableton to Serato – The Bridge provides Ableton Transport Control (ATC), giving DJs turntable-style control of their own multitrack productions. DJs can simply drag an Ableton Live Set onto one of the decks in Scratch Live or ITCH and use their turntables, CDJ or ITCH controller to control the transport.
• Serato to Ableton – The Bridge provides the ultimate mixtape creation tool. DJs can perform mixes in Serato Scratch Live or ITCH and save them as an Ableton Live Set. This way, the DJ can still perform the mix—better than cut and pasting it together in a DAW—but also has detailed editing options.

No release date has been set yet – but The Bridge will be free for anyone who owns registered versions of both Serato Scratch Live/ITCH hardware and Ableton Live 8 or Suite 8.

Activating the 'Ableton View' in Scratch Live or ITCH opens a representation of Live's Session View, where you can launch clips and scenes, control instruments and devices, mix, mute and solo—all from within your ITCH or Scratch Live user interface. If you need more detail, just switch to the full Ableton Live application for complete control.

The Ableton View displays critical information from your Ableton Live Set, including:

• Clips, including clip name, color and play buttons
• Track levels
• Level meters
• Sends A and B
• Device control for effects
• Track solo, arm and mute

demnach ist das doch gut gelöst, warum man allerdings nicht auch noch mit Traktor zusammen arbeitet ist ein bischen fragwürdig

Find das schon geil!

hab allerdings traktor...

und vor allem ist der weg von serato in ableton auch mal sehr beeindruckend da alle crossfader movements und die tracks welche man gespielt hat aufscheinen

somit hat man auch wesentlich besser editiermöglichkeit als wenn man nur 1 standard wav-file hat
