Ende Mai will Paul van Dyk, oder Paul Matthias wie er bürgerlich heisst, ein eigenes AppStore App auf den Markt bringen welches viele mehr oder weniger sinnvolle DJ-Tools beinhaltet.

Neben einem BPM Counter, einem Frequency Analyser und einem Noise Levelmeter soll dieses App auch über diversen andere kleine Spielereien verfügen.

Das PvD DJ App ermöglicht aber nicht, wie wie z.B. BeatMaker oder Noise.io, das erstellen Musik. DvD DJ versteht sich rein als Tool bzw. Feature für DJs.

Wie bereits erwähnt soll PvD DJ ende Mai zum Download freigegeben werden. Dasgenaue Datum sowie der Preis sind noch nicht bekannt.

Play Time: In top display shows current remaining track time (time is displayed in "Frame" 1/75 seconds).

Tap Counter: BPM (Beats Per Minute) can be measured by tapping jog-dial center.

BPM Counter: (Beats Per Minute) displays BPMs (measured with the Tap-Counter)

Jog-Dial: Search-Mode look for CUE point by using the Jog-Dial in 1/100 sec units (looped interval) When in the Scratch-Mode you can real time scratch.

CUE: Paused track point is recorded in CUE, hit CUE to easily return to the recorded CUE point, from play and pause.

Track Selection and Seek: Next/Fast-forward, Back/Rewind select track from library and advanced or reverse through track time line.

PLAY/PAUSE: Play and stop selected track.

Pitch Control: You can change the music speed (Pitch) with slider control. BPM indication adjust with this Pitch Fader (Pitch Shift is +-16%).

You can real time scrath on virtual
jog-dial.

You can get FX sounds by shaking device. Sound varies according to the direction of the accelerration.

Touch Mix is a simple music app for the iPhone and iPod touch that lets you play, mix, and remix ten exclusive tracks by producer deadmau5. Now, of course, you’re unlikely to grab this in order to DJ nothing but deadmau5. (The all-deadmau5, all-the-time approach?) But the app demonstrates that iPhone-only artist releases can be a whole lot more fun than just a few tracks and some static album artwork. And it also shows off what a handheld DJ interface could look like, with a pretty efficient one-screen-per-deck design that doesn’t overwhelm your fingertips.

Yes, that’s quite a lot more than simply plopping in some static content. Just guessing, but I imagine we could see this app applied to other music, as well. (What you can’t do — yet — is bring in your own waveforms, which would make all the difference.)

Touch Mix is the work of Future Audio Workshop, the folks who brought us the lovely drag-and-drop, OpenSoundControl-compatible Circle synth. FAW’s Gavin Burke had a chat with us about how he thinks about design. It produces a control tone that is compatible with most digital vinyl systems such as Serato’s Scratch Live, Native Instruments’ Traktor Scratch, M-Audio’s Torq, Image-Line’s Deckadance and many more.

Eine Art KaossPad

Retronyms, makers of iPhone applications Recorder and FourTrack, have released DopplerPad (App Store link), a live performance music production application for the iPhone and iPod touch inspired by the Korg Kaossillator, Yamaha Tenori-on and DJ mixers.

Synthesizers, samplers and drum pads are combined in the app to create an intuitive, portable instrument.

DopplerPad’s interface imitates the standard DJ setup of a mixer with turntables on either side, but replaces the turntables with music-producing touchpads. The app launches to the mixer, where the user can access the two touchpads, playback controls, a crossfader and a loop bank that stores up to 14 loops.

Building a loop on one of DopplerPad's velocity-sensitive touchpads begins with adjusting the tempo and number of beats. Thirty-seven instruments are available to design melodies and harmonies with bass, percussion and additional sound effects, while four samplers allow users to record snippets of any audio to add to the mix. The gate/arpeggiator and scale editor polish the loop with unique rhythms that are always in tune.

Retronyms is holding a video contest coinciding with the release of DopplerPad to see who can create the best DopplerPad track. Submissions will be accepted until August 21, 2009, and the prize for the winner is an iPhone 3GS.

Touch DJ is the first full-featured DJ MP3 application on the iPhone platform. Touch DJ offers realtime independent manipulation of 2 MP3 files, including scratching, looping, positioning, equalization, effects and and pitching. The unique futuristic user-friendly interface of Touch DJ and the highly advanced zero-latency sound engine bring fantastic results comparable to what can be done with professional hardware equipment.

Traditionally iPhone and iPod Touch have only one stereo audio output which broadens the possibility of using them as a DJ device.
