Und so überrascht der Synth-Guru die Fachwelt mit der Ankündigung eines brandneuen Analogsynthesizers für den Schreibtisch mit Namen Mopho.

Der gerade einmal 700 Gramm schwere, monophone Synthesizer bietet eine vollständig analoge Klangerzeugung auf Basis des Prophet '08, bestehend aus zwei Oszillatoren mit eigenen Suboktav-Generatoren (Suboszillator), dem klassischen Curtis-Tiefpass mit wahlweise 12 dB oder 24 dB und Feedbackschleife sowie drei ADSR-Hüllkurven. Mit an Bord sind außerdem der aus dem Evolver bekannte Arpeggiator und ein 16 x 4 Step-Sequenzer.

An Anschlüssen bietet der Mopho neben MIDI-I/O einen Stereo-Ausgang, Kopfhöreranschluss sowie einen Audio-Eingang, der ein externes Signal durch das Curtis-Filter leiten kann. Die vier Endlosencoder lassen sich mit beliebigen Funktionen belegen und können den Synthesizer in Echtzeit steuern. Sein interner Speicher fasst 384 Presets, die über den mitgelieferten Editor (Windows und OS X) verwaltet werden können.

Der Mopho wird voraussichtlich im 4. Quartal erhältlich sein. Der empfohlene Verkaufspreis in den USA beträgt 439 US-Dollar, in Deutschland dürfte der Knirps dann wohl für 399 Euro in den Läden stehen. (AW) Webverweise: www.davesmithinstruments.com

For one of the little guys, I mean little in terms of size of company, for we all know of Dave Smith's giant stature in the synth business, it amazes me just how often new synths are released from him. This latest synth, the monphonic Mopho is based on the voice architecture of the Prophet 8 and the parameter access of the Evolver series and turns it yellow, very yellow. The user interface has been paired down to give access to the most commonly accessed parameters, Pitch, Cutoff, Resonance, Attack and Decay/Release, with a further four assignable controls - which can be programmed from the front panel – you can fully program the synth from there, or via the Mac/PC basic editing software. There's also the intriguing looking button labeled 'Push It!"

Dave says of it:
"The challenge was to deliver the renowned sound quality of a single voice of the Prophet '08 in a package that would be affordable for a much broader group of players and recording artists without sacrificing the performance features so important to making an analog synth really sing."

Each of the two oscillators has it's own sub oscillator, OSC 1 at 1 octave down and OSC 2 at two down for plenty of range - Dave says "It has taken on a life of its own, it's an inexpensive, feature-rich mono synth that really excels at basses and big, fat lead sounds".

hm preis passt.

aber ich würd gern mehr regler und buttons haben. oder is das teil voll midi fähig also jeder kleinste mist per midi belegbar...
