Freikartenverlosung: 3 x 2 Karten Info Church of Carbon: upcoming album: compute into darkness! CoC is the first live band project of Gerhard Potuznik, Patrick Pulsinger and Phillip Quehenberger, all well known from the cheap records rooster. Potuznik and Pulsinger released the first CoC EP "angst" on disko b, Germany and had a dark dancefloor smasher with their version of "Bela Lugosi 's dead". They played various live gigs from the Tokyo Sound of Speed Festival to Sonar 2000. Synthrocker Phillip Quehenberger joins them for their debutalbum. Quehenberger is known for his compromising live performances (Mutek - Montreal, Russia/Finland Tour, Sonar 2003) and collaborations with COIL, Franz West, Electronicat and others. Guests like Peaches, Brendan M Gillen, Salvatore Principato and Electronicat agreed to take part in the development of the new album. Gerhard Potuznik on mic and guitar, Patrick Pulsinger controlling the beats and effects, Quehenberger on synths. Fixed festival appearances 2004: TEE London Repellent Festival New York New Music Festival Detroit Info DVJ Kriel: DVJ Kriel's success is in bringing his worlds to the international dance music community. Amazingly, his first gig for Radio 1 was the Leeds Love Parade for 250,000 punters. But he topped that in 2004 with the world's first nationally telecast live DVJ mix over BBC2 and BBC Three/BBCi for Glastonbury, to an audience of more than half a million people. Charles has been creating film/video and media works since relocating from Atlanta ten years ago; first to Prague, then Venice and London. Born a third-generation circus performer, Charles has a PhD in media art from Central Saint Martins, and has received awards/grants/commissions from Ars Electronica, ICA, MOMA-Oxford, London Institute, Royal Festival Hall, British Council, Dance on Screen, and London Arts. As a media artist, he has exhibited in the gallery of Tomato Design, at the 1999 Venice Biennale, and throughout the Middle East, Europe, Russia, the US and Australasia. As a composer, he has been commissioned to compose an an opera and several song cycles, and his work is released by ÖRF (Austria) and Electroshock (Moscow). He has received the Prix Ars Electronic Award of Distinction. As a filmmaker, writer and photographer, he is regularly commissioned by BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1Xtra and has also been commissioned by MTV, ITV and Channel 4. A media theorist synthesising the works of McLuhan, Lacan and Freud as they apply to digital media in his recent work Noise and the Uncanny, he has delivered papers and talks at University of Westminster, Institute of Education, London Institute, Oxford Brookes, and a number of conferences. Charles (VJ Kriel) is also a VJ, and has been called "the world's leading VJ" by the NME, and is resident VJ for BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra and Pete Tong's Essential Selection. He has been cited by The Times as "club culture's first superstar VJ," and regularly performs in Ibiza, Ayia Napa, and across Europe and SE Asia. Since Spring 2000, he has performed for nearly 1.5 million clubbers internationally. He is currently designing The Real, a persistent world deeply informed by Lacanian psychoanalytic theory, with media-producer Gary Carter (ex-Endemol). Info Rob Mello: London based DJ and Producer; Roberto Mello has recorded, produced, and remixed a plethora of House records over the past ten years, under various guises. One of these illustrious guises was the pioneering disco house duo Disco Elements, previously signed to Azuli Records, which Rob formed one half of. Rob was also co-founder of the saucy house label Luxury Service and, alongside Ashley Beedle, produced the first Black Science Orchestra single "Where were you", released on the legendary London house label 'Boys Own'. More recently Rob has been working extensively with 'A Man Called Adam' (Other Records), both remixing and recording. Rob has also made the move into film score work. In 1999 Rob, with Matthew Herbert, was responsible for writing all the incidental music on the UK club culture movie 'Human Traffic'. Forthcoming, Rob has music featured on Film Four's eagerly awaited 'Daybreak' film, due for release this year. DJ wise, Rob has been DJing for over fourteen years, and has pioneered his own inimitable style of funky house that is much demand in clubs all over the world. Rob's DJ reputation has seen him DJ at the Cannes Film Festival, to Respect and The Rex in Paris, to the renowned Sub Club in Scotland, as well as regular dates in Moscow, Cape town, Switzerland, Ireland, Norway, Italy and Iceland. Rob regularly plays in London at Space, Bar Rhumba, and Plastic People. Info Tim Paris: Tim’s interest in music starts at a very early age thanks to his very passionnate dad who initiates him to the likes of James Brown, Marvin Gaye or Miles Davis. He then goes onto studying guitar and forms his first heavy metal band at the age of 14. Later at 16, he will follow up with the study of trumpet and jazz. His first experiences as a dj will start at 18 when he goes onto playing rave parties under the name of dj Trey. In 1999 he becomes Philippe Laugier’s assistant at Barclay and gets more involved with electronic music in general. He starts music journalism in french web magazine “Metromag”. In 2000, he mixes the compilation Electronik New Flava for Universal, writes for Music.fr (Wagram’s site) and PandoraTV then becomes resident at the What’s up Bar on saturday night for his Soul Shock party. From then on, his career is on the way as he starts deejaying in various parties like Positiva’s Velvet, Massive Attack aftershow, or alongside Charles Schilling for the Discobar parties at the Rex club . In 2001, due to his talent and his peculiar house music approach, Tim Paris is an up and coming parisian dj. After meeting up with Selector agency, this 25 years old guy accumulates a large number of residencies in Paris’ most famous places: the Rex, the Batofar, La Scène, the Fabrique, the Wax, the Wagg, the Globo, the Concore-Atlantique, the Nouveau Casino, Cake&Milk (summer)... He’s present in the trendiest clubs and parties of the capital such as the Pulp, Studio 287, the Folies Pigalle, the Alcazar, Casa, KAPB, Dentelles de Luxe, Eyes Need Sugar, Rebirth... as well as in many festivals like Plages Sonores in Montpellier, for instance. Tim Paris also starts an international carrier with sets performed in : London, Singapour, Helsinki, Venice, Johannesburg, Moscow, Valencia, Miami, Cape Town, Birmingham, Pretoria, La Réunion, Barcelona, Madrid... At he same time he initiates a new party concept with Dj Chloe and Alexkid under the name of Ghetto Blaster where the idea is to mix “ the three of them at the same time, all night long”. These happen to be very successfull and unanimously acclaimed in the trendy magazines. For the last 2 years he manages various labels with Jek K. Silver Network, FastForward and Crack & Speed have gained an important notoriety today. There they succeed into gathering talents of the whole world and their artistic ambition has many times been acclaimed by the actors of the electronic scene (many dithyrambic chronicles, several times voted "single of the month" by the french and international press, congratulations and the encouragements of biggest Djs). Therefore you can find tracks from the Silver Catalogue on a large amount of compilations such as « Cafe Del Mar », « La Mezzanine de L’Alcazar » (Vol.1,2 et 3), « Private Lounge », «La Terrazza », « Faith Revival » (Azuli), « Technikart » and « Terry’s Café » (Terry Lee Brown). In addition to this , he also joined with Dimitri to release in june 2002 the Cake&Milk compilation ( named after the famous outdoor parties). On top of these multiple activities, Tim Paris turns today to the production. Besides his tracks under his dj name, he also created a band with Yogi (“The Boldz”) and they have already done remixes for Femi Kuti, Salif Keita and Black Sabbath. His very eclectic tastes in music makes him a very different element on the house map, as he plays a mixture of house, broken beat, funk, disco and original technosound of Detroit. After performing with the most important Djs like Jori Hulkonen, Laurent Garnier or Charles Webster amongst others, Tim Paris succeed into imposing his style that is nowadays very demanded on the dancefloors. Discography : -Electronik New Flava (Barclay/Universal) -Cake&Milk (Discograph) -Femi Kuti “Traitors Of Africa” The Boldz remix (Barclay/Universal) -In Fused/Black Sabbath “Paranoïd” The Boldz remix (ArtBrut/Dialect) -Salif Keita “Madan” The Boldz remix (Universal Jazz) -Salif Keita “Madan” Tim Paris Days of Holly Salif remix (Universal Jazz) Info 4YourEye: 4YourEye was already founded by Gery in 1994. So to say he is one of the pioneers in Austria, someone who was present from the very first beginning.Eva started vjing 2 years ago at the VideA VJ-festival in Barcelona. Since that time the couple works together and created an own distinctive style. 4youreye now is a perfectly cooperating team, they complement each other in many points, they push each other and so the fire of creativity is still burning. Flavour... 4YourEye does live-sets only. For this reason images come into existence, which never can be repeated the same way. Each show is different, is irretrievable and only for the moment: "This is 4YourEye, this is only a moment in time" Vital statistics... As 4YourEye was already founded in 1994 they can look back at many gigs around Austria and Europe. Future plans... 4YourEye runs the first VJ-label in Austria called Eye:Con (www.eye-con.tv) together with Synoptics. We tend to do work closer with Phish & Bitkid together with them we did our first a/v act this summer called “My perfect TV” which is a soundvisualised analysis and / or examination of current reports in the media (like TV) and how they influence our critical faculty. Loss of reality in the age of „reality TV“? Projects like this are our main goal at the moment… |
