Radio soundportal & tonwerk.cc präsentieren LOVE & PASSION - das steirische Techno-Highlight des Jahres 2004, und zugleich die letzte Chance, eine wahre Legende live zu erleben - am 27. 11. im Grazer Dom im Berg:
Mit dem DJ- Superstar CLAUDE YOUNG hält eine Galionsfigur der elektronischen Musik Einzug in die Hallen des Grazer Schlossbergs. Als DJ, Produzent, Musiker und Visionär prägte der innovative Amerikaner zusammen mit Jeff Mills die Detroit-Szene seit Beginn der 90er und zählt längst zu den gefragtesten und meist gebuchten Acts weltweit – einmalig dabei: acrobatic deck skills and scratching, zum ersten und zugleich letzten Mal (!) in Graz, denn Mr. Young wird seine Karriere 2005 beenden... sad but true.
Als weiteres Highlight gibt sich JAY DENHAM aus Chicago die Ehre. Der Gründer des legendären Black Nations Labels - bekannt als Techno-Pionier seit den späten 80ern – bespielte sämtliche namhafte Großevents mit seiner hard & funky Techno-Mixture und rockt auch in Graz auf drei Turntables... nothing left to say.
Als Support agiert mit DJ VEZTAX einer der besten slowenischen DJs und Produzenten, der zudem als Labelinhaber und Head der Interparty Promotion-Agenzy (SLO) für frischen Wind in der Szene sorgt, während der Linzer FLORIAN MEINDL als Opener sein aufstrebendes Talent und seinen guten Draht zur Crowd unter Beweis stellen wird.
Schließlich sorgt das slowenische BEATFORPEOPLE ANIMATION TEAM für außergewöhnliche Visuals, welche eine der beeindruckendsten Locations Österreichs in ein atemberaubendes Gewand kleiden werden... have a love for your passion!!!

BIO CLAUDE YOUNG:

Electronic musician, producer and visionary are just
a few of the monikers often associated with the name
of 33 year old American born DJ Claude Young Jr.

The son of legendary multi platinum, multi awarded,
radio personality Claude Young Sr. (responsible for
the radio success in America of various artist and
major record labels such as David Bowie, Quincy Jones,
Isaac Hayes, Elton John, Barry White, The Jackson's,
Prince, Motown Records, MCA Records, Warner Brothers,
RCA and a slew of others) Claude Jr. spent his
childhood sitting in on his fater‚s many daily radio
shows and voiceover production sessions.

Claude soon began his own radio career immediately
after graduating high school at one of Detroit‚s top
music stations. Acting as a radio personality and DJ,
his mixes aired weekly every friday and saturday night
and could be heard not only in Detroit but in
neighbouring Windsor (Canada) which allowed him to
build a local following rapidly. But unlike his father
Claude's musical taste was more in tune with
electronic influences.

Showing exceptional skills at editing Claude was often
invited to create radio edits of songs for his
station, this led to RCA Records releasing his radio
edit nationally of the Tommy Musto & Frankie Bones
dance classic „Dangerous on the Dancefloor‰. He later
went on to edit records for the likes of Kevin
Sunderson, Octave One‚s 430 West records, Warner
Brothers, and a host of others too long to mention.

He was soon invited to play at local event‚s along
side the cream of Detroit techno's hierarchy. Playing
on weekends after his mix show at parties with the
likes of Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson,
Jay Denham, Blake Baxter, Carl Craig, Robert Hood and
many more. It was through this early experience he met
now long time friend‚s Anthony „Shake‰ Shakir (who he
credit‚s with teaching him to DJ properly and with
whom he later formed Friction records with) and Dan
„DBX‰ Bell (with whom he would form his first record
label with as co-partner of seventh city records).

After a short stint playing at local and national
parties Claude was invited to play in Adelaide &
Melbourne Australia, where he would form alliances
with Australian dance legends such as DJ GT (Groove
Terminator) and DJ HMC (Juice / Dirty House Records)
this his first appearance outside of the US would be
the match that would ignite a global DJ career that
has since seen him travel the globe many times over.

Upon returning to Detroit after touring in Australia
Claude would spend his time honing his music
production skills and has been involved in remixes and
productions for many of today's most respected artist.
His discography includes original production and
remixes for artist such as Carl Craig, Inner City &
Kevin Saunderson KMS records, 4 Hero, Gary Numan,
Slam, Joey Beltram, Sven Vath, Ben Sims, Terrence
Parker, K-Hand, DJ Skull, James Ruskin, Oliver Ho,
Jeff Mills and a host of others.

His ability as a DJ developed with time and his
constant tour schedule saw him relocate to London
England in 1997 where he began to play across Europe,
frequenting Germany, Spain, Scotland, Ireland,
Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Malta and England to
name just a few of his deck conquest. His performances
on the the turntables are frequently praised by his
admirers and his peers, having release several mix
CD‚s throughout his 10 year career. K7! records
Germany were the first to realise his talents as a DJ
and produced a mix by him in their DJ-Kicks series.
Then followed a mix for long time friends The Memory
Foundation who invited Claude to work his magic on a
selection of tracks from their label Central‚s
collection. Sony Music Entertainment Japan followed by
including him in their roster for the DJF series which
was conceived by DJ & Japans PoP Icon Takkyu Ishino.
Going from strength to strength Claude produced
another mix for German internet web site DJ-SETS.com.
In 2003 Jeff Mills commissioned him to produce a mix
selecting his favourite material from the Axis,
Purpose Maker and Tomorrow labels which saw Claude
produce the very limited and much sought after
„Thought‚s of Phutura‰. He is the only artist to
release a mix on Axis Records other than owner and
techno Icon Mills himself.

Now residing in Tokyo Japan, Young has shown a
consistent flow of quality throughout his long running
career and all this without the need for mass media
attention which is so sought after by many of his
contemporaries.

BIO JAY DENHAM

Jay Denham

The pionerr of techno music in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jay Denham startet Black Nation Records in 1992.
Denham previously gained critical acclaim for his legendary „In Synch“ e.p. as Vice on Fragile Records (the sub label of Detroit`s renowned Transmat Label).
During this same period in the late 80s and early 90s, he also recorded material for 430 West, did remix work for Kevin Saunderson at KMS and appeared on the famed „Techno II“ Detroit TEchno compilation on Network Records.

After a living in Detroit for three years, Debham returned to his hometown Kalamazoo in 1992 and startet Black Nation Records that same year. At first, initial distribution troubles delayed the release of the first record until 1995. In early 1996 his „Day of Atonement“ and „Playerhater“ releases as Blackman and Vice, respectively, caught the notice of techno fans and Black Nation quickly gained notoriety for it?s high quality releases.

In addition to Black Nation he also released records on such famed techno labels as Tresor, Sativae, Fragmented, Cloned Vinyl, Fragile, Cosmic and many more.
In 1998 he released his first album „Escape to the Black Planet“ on Germany`s Disko B records. This was followed by 1999`s “Synthesized Society“ album also released on Disko B.
The year 2000 saw the debut of Slavery 2000 ans Sector 616, Jays new sub labels for Black Nation.

Jay Denham has deejayed all around the world in the past years. Highlights include Mayday in Berlin, Sonar in Barcelona, and appearances in Germany, Englnad, Scotland, France, Italy, Japan, and many other countries.
Until it was cancelled, he was slated to be a headliner of Universe Tribal Gathering in England.
One of his most recent highlights was headlining three different events of the Love Parade 2000 in Berlin. Denhaim has gained world wide fame for playing and mixture of hard and funky techno while utilizing three turntables

Oho, Suncity im Oktober, Love & Passion im November ... da hat nach der Sommerpause ja wieder jeder Monat ein ordentliches Highlight im Dom im Berg zu bieten. Fein, fein ... allein Claude Young im Line-Up ist schon mal ein großes Plus.

Was dann wohl im Dezember kommen mag um die Serie nicht zu unterbrechen ...
