Mit der "female:pressure night" präsentieren die Vereine inter-act.biz und LUV in Kooperation eine spezielle Veranstaltung mit dem Fokus auf die Präsentation von ausschließlich weiblichen KünstlerInnen und DJs. Da in Graz leider sehr wenige Frauen aktiv Veranstaltungen im Bereich der elektronischen Musik durchführen und auch die weiblichen DJs wohl an einer Hand gezählt werden können, startet inter-act.biz in Kooperation mit LUV diese Initiative, um das female:pressure Netzwerk auch in Graz vorzustellen und damit einen wichtigen Beitrag zu leisten, um die weibliche Grazer Szene zu fördern.

Milwaukee (USA), Zod City, ist die Brutstätte für jungle/breakcore experimental artists wie zB Bogdan Raczinski, Venetian Snares und Doormouse. zod Records, gegründet im Jahr 2000 von Destro und Curtis Chip, hat bereits so manchen audiophilen Meilenstein veröffentlicht. Wir freuen uns die zod Künstler und Mitbegründer Curtis Chip und Emotional Joystick, sowie Binray aus England zum ersten Mal in Graz begrüßen zu können.

ELECTRIC INDIGO

Inzwischen längst in allen Herren Länder zum Markenzeichen für funky Electro- und Technogrooves geworden, verkörpert Electric Indigo die postmoderne Medienkünstlerin par excellence. DJ, Musikproduzentin, Fernsehmacherin, Radioredakteurin, Labelinhaberin, Internetaktivistin und Plattenladenmanagerin sind einige der Professionen, denen die umtriebige und interessierte Wienerin nachgeht.

In Wien hat sie seit 1996 ihr eigenes Studio und bringt mit Indigo Inc. 2003 ihr eigenes Plattenlabel mit angeschlossener Database für Künstlerinnen an den Start. Female Pressure funktioniert im weitesten Sinne wie eine Kontaktbörse, die es weiblichen Medienschaffenden aus den unterschiedlichsten Sparten erlauben soll miteinander in Kontakt zu treten und so ein kreatives Netzwerk aufzubauen. Um die Jahrtausendwende kommen mit "USA" und "The New Electro" gleich zwei Mix-CDs von Electric Indigo auf den Markt, die eindrücklich unterstreichen warum die Wienerin auf Detroit's Electronic Music Festival (jetzt: The Moevement) genauso gebucht wird, wie in China oder Berlin - oder Graz.

EMOTIONAL JOYSTICK (usa)

EmotionalJoystick writes a lot of music. He has always incorporated musical structure into his compositions, and even in his noisiest tracks manages to work in some sort of melody or chord structure. On his latest E.P., the tracks tend to consist of frenetic breaks and flowing melodies with string-filled chords and strong arrangements. At times harsh, and at times beautiful (and many times both) he tries to push the envelope of what is and isn't organic vs. electronic music. His live shows continue in this same vein. Often times incorporating live playing of his Fender Rhodes and other instruments, as well as a hefty amount of electronics, it is something to behold.

CURTIS CHIP (usa)

Because Curtis Chip has been playing drums since he was very young, this zod artist has a very musical way of thinking about rhythm. The dense poly-rythms and syncopation (coupled with a gift for sound design) that he incorporates into his songs are what separates him from other artists in electronic music. Recently he has given his full attention to producing. This is more than apparent on his new E.P. Finely crafted and highly original, tracks on the record range from frantic drum and bass with sweeping melodies and urgent synth lines, to dark, distorted sound-scapes, sculpted from pure sound, all with the signature syncopation he is known for. For his percussion sounds, he often samples his own drumming, and later chops it up and re-edits it into a densely woven web of rhythm. For his live show, he is working on incorporating live instrumentation into his electronics, and has been known to jam with zod artist Emotional Joystick.

BINRAY (uk)

Bin Ray does not disappoint. From the strains of his first chorus to its final measure, a work of true melodic talent emerges with intricacies that could only have come from long hours of confinement, absorbing inhuman amounts of monitor radiation from the cathode ray to produce the tangible result of an obsessive perfectionism of craft with a breadth of emotion seldom heard. By toying with, rather than replicating, the notions of those few notable exceptions within the genre that have shown an equal aptitude for the manufacture and relay of emotion through melody, Bin Ray emerges as a worthy successor and equal to what has been said before, carving his own niche and proving his aptitude at once.
