The name Hradhouse comes from czech name "Hrad" which means "Castle" in English, because the festival (which is one of the biggest in Czech Republic) takes place on a big castle Boskovice by Brno. The history of this cult event starts in 1998 when two promoters - Mersey Agency + Vichr Production started colaboration. Vichr had the castle, Mersey the experience. First three years took part on mysterious Buchlov castle in deep forrests by Uherske Hradiste. The first year was pretty underground but the attendance of 900 people led organizers to a more professional work - they invited in 1999 much bigger line-up with the headliner - DJane Heaven from Cream London. The success was big and over 2500 people were excited by unique atmosphere and surroundings. In 2000 the festival got a major sponsor - World Online and with Terry Francis from London broke the records - over 6500 people tried to enter the castle, but 3000 must have stayed on the free scene under the castle bridge. Next reaction on the masacre was cruel, the authorities have forbidden the event on Buchlov castle for the next years.
The chapter 2 of Hradhouse history starts in 2001 on a new, better, bigger and more professional place, the improvized continuation of festival attracts 2500 people again, but the next year 2002 Hradhouse with stronger line-up (Evil Eddie Richards,Nils Hess,Makaton) was bigger again with over 4000 people and fantastic atmosphere. The third year on a new place should break records again. Festival will have for the first time two huge stages and 2 small ones as ussual and the headliner will be one of the absolutely best todays techno stars - Marco Bailey from Belgium. On Progressive stage will show up a close colleague of UK Sasha - Ian Ossia from Renaissance, one of the top specialists on energetic sound. But it is not all, Hradhouse 2003 will invite almost 50 artists from many countries,to name few of them we cannot forget in the Czech Republic renowned Austrian Felipe, spanish queen Pelacha, austrian house guru Eric Fischer, Joel Einhorn from Chicago, slovak legend Toky or czech superstars Lucca, Michael Burian and Orbith.
