The skill of accurate perception is called cynicism by those who don't possess it. - lan Millar
Whenever I'm caught between two evils, I take the one I've never tried. - Mae West For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. - Carl Sagan Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge. - Carl Sagan The universe seems neither benign nor hostile, merely indifferent. - Carl Sagan We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology. - Carl Sagan How come we rejoice at a birth and grieve at a funeral? It is because we are not the person involved. - Mark Twain The point of philosophy is to start with something so simple as not to seem worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that no one will believe it. - Bertrand Russel The dread of evil is a much more forcible principle of human actions than the prospect of good. - John Locke If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them. - Isaac Asimov Creationists make it sound as though a 'theory' is something you dreamt up after being drunk all night. - Isaac Asimov A subtle thought that is in error may yet give rise to fruitful inquiry that can establish truths of great value. - Isaac Asimov I write for the same reason I breathe - because if I didn't, I would die. - Isaac Asimov It pays to be obvious, especially if you have a reputation for subtlety. - Isaac Asimov Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome. - Isaac Asimov Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what's right. - Isaac Asimov No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be. - Isaac Asimov Those people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. - Isaac Asimov To insult someone we call him "bestial." For deliberate cruelty and nature, "human" might be the greater insult. - Isaac Asimov Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months. - Oscar Wilde I am not young enough to know everything. - Oscar Wilde Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation. - Oscar Wilde Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong. - Oscar Wilde Now we sit through Shakespeare in order to recognize the quotations. - Orson Wells (IMG:http://www.technoboard.at/style_emoticons/default/tounge.gif) sollten sich EPKEBler zu Herzen nehmen: Das Neue daran ist nicht gut, und das Gute daran ist nicht neu. - Johann Heinrich Voss I passionately hate the idea of being with it, I think an artist has always to be out of step with his time. - Orson Wells 'Change' is scientific, 'progress' is ethical; change is indubitable, whereas progress is a matter of controversy. - Bertrand Russel (IMG:http://www.technoboard.at/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Der Beitrag wurde von DJ George le Nagelaux bearbeitet: 26 Jun 2006, 10:39 |
