AMIR Javasoul Javasoul / Clubworld / Robsoul 1995, Montreal, Canada. Where it all began for Amir AKA Javasoul. Attending what he calls "the good parties of the good ol days, the better dayz..." where the emphasis was put on having fun and just daaancing to whatever made you shake it. In '96 '97 Derrick Carter's legendary Atomic gigs, in Ottawa, Canada, induced Amir's house epiphany. After the realization that real house should be enjoyed by all, he ran and spun at his own Javasoul nights in Kingston, Canada. Doing so, he gave birth to a still unknown world of electronic music in the small university town that is Kingston. He later helped develop Montreal as a true house playground ripping the decks to shreds at venues such as Jai Bar, Sona Bar, Jinxxi, and the debaucherous Angel's. Moving to Los Angeles for a short period of time in 99, Amir took to the decks at the infamous Viper Room in West Hollywood. Fast forward to 2001, the Miami Winter Music Conference resparked Amir's true house fires after he witnessed Harvey's remarkable 6 AM set. This had a major influence in the evolution of sound/type of house music Amir is known to play these days. Mixing in a blend of funky Chicago house and groovy S.F electro/house. April 2001 Amir moved to Paris, France where he resides at the moment. Bringing Chicago to Paris, his Classic Records party (with DelaHouse) was truly a success. He, alongside Luke Solomon and Rob Mello gave an unforgettable performance still talked about. Mingling with local heroes, Amir has played alongside artists such as Laurent Garnier, Djulz,Phil Weeks, David Duriez, Cisco, Dan Gennacia, Jef K, Ivan Smagghe, Sam Karlson, etc..During that last 3 years. In Early 2002 He also held a short residency at Folies Pigale, where he was able to invite more of his Classic/Music For Freaks partners in sharing the decks with Justin Harris of the fame Freaks, Diz, Tiefshwartz, and Ewan Pearson. The Mid 2002-2003 span was a very fruitful year for Amir and the city of Paris. He held a one year residency at two of the main clubs in the Paris circuit (Studio 287 and Queen Club), along with being in charge of booking international DJs of real calibre as guests. Who could forget June 19th 2002, when thanks to Amir, we witnessed the return of Derrick Carter to France, after a 4+ years absence. This sparked the debut of the now infamous "ClubWorld" nights at Queen club. The guests during this 12 month residency included: Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Onionz, Rob Mello, Satoshi Tomiie, Phil Weeks, Fafa Monteco, Steve Bug, Kenny Hawkes and Armand Van Helden. Ever since then, Amir has played at just about every club in Paris, and has travelled around Europe and beyond, to end 2003 on a very good note. With a constant collaboration and joint effort with his good friends Phil Weeks and David Duriez, owners of Robsoul and Brique Rouge records, Amir has established himself as a new groundbreaking and versatile DJ. This was further demonstrated during this year's 2004 WMC in MIAMI. After two very successful events, Amir's spring and summer schedule will take him to Turkey, Germany, New York, Toronto, Ottawa, western Canada, and Sheffield England all in the months of April and May! At the age of 27, Amir has a promising career ahead both as a DJ and as a recording artist. "2004 will defenately see me spend a lot of time in the studio even though I don't know how I will find the time!" "Its definitely the logical step ahead for me". "But one thing's for sure. DJing will always take priority. Its in me and I cant let it go! Reminds of this great party I played in Munich in October 2003, with my good friend DJ LINUS of exun records. Small room, a lot of time, great crowd, great sound, and great drinks! What better would I have to do? Yes. nothing…so we just kept playing…J" DODO.MAN: Dodo comes from Poprad, the city surrounded by the beatifull High Tatras mountains. He is one of a few djs who stood by the genesis of the slovak electronic dance scene. From zero he established beginnings of a"dance stage“ in Poprad area. He has always been deeply interested in music of all styles. At the beginning of ninenties, during formation of a new "house music" in Slovakia he was caught by this music style. Therefore he decided to pay further interest to its substance. In 1994, along with his friend, they bought turntables and deeply in the basement they were slowly uncovering „what the hell is this about". They also kept working on perfect mixing. One year later Dodo recorded his own mix on a cassette and went to the local radio with an offer to produce a program on dance music together with a friend dj Kece. Finaly, they were hired and started playing for the Tatry radio. Since 1995 (for next 5 years) could everyone who was interested listen to "Understand the dancefloor" session. Their power to find an original way of showing nature of this music to the public, caused that they became quite famous after a short period of time. Almost everyone living in that place knows the name Dodo@Kece. They created a working partnership. From the first party closed to public, playing for friends, they gradually improved to play bigger and better parties, mostly organized by themselves. As Dodo says: "There is nothing more beautifull and exciting for me than making party for people and really enjoying it together." In the same year /1995/ Dodo had met with his friend and future partner, dj Rafael from Holland. This partnership was crucial for Dodo´s career, because he had direct access to Dutch and world house and techno music. 1997 - Dodo started running his record shop on the internet and estabilished his own trade mark "Bassline", step by step passing to the promotion. He is an author and a resident of parties as „Klobazza“ with Austrian Dj Ralf Reiter, „Techno´n´House“ tours: „Summer in Holland“, „Dutch Techno“, etc. He runs his own web page www.bassline.sk Because of his studies at the university Dodo took a break from promotion activities and playing, to keep energy for some other things. But he never gave up playing completely. In the year 2000, after finishing his studies, he also ended up the work for a radio. The reason was that the new owner who came had completely changed the music structure. This was a new challenge to try something else. He moved to Bratislava – the capital, started his short term co-operation with a small booking agency S.M.I.I.L.E. No longer after finishing this job, in 2001, he decided to become a member of a Bajkonur crew where they realized many significant projects. He also became a resident of legendary after parties in Bratislava Eden club. The years 2001/02 were very successful for him. The Bajkonur Agency won the brief of Phillip Morris company and Dodo was enabled to build a concept of 14 clubbings, broadly organized all around Slovakia. From this point, famous Dj’s as Terry Francis, Jorri Hulkkonen, Christian Smith, Percy X and others played in Slovakia. Another chance for Dodo came a little bit later. He started regular playing for Bratislava club Extreme where he played along with Djs Nils Hess, Nathan Coles, Colin Dale, Jim Masters etc. His name started to appear more frequently on the posters of Czech shows as Citadela, Apokalypsa, Hradhouse and Supersonic Garage. He also got an opportunity to represent Slovak techno-house school in honoured Prague clubs Roxy and Mecca. Present situation With his 9 years of playing, Dodo is considered today to be a well experienced Dj with a high level of practice. He always keeps a close contact with people, estimates what kind of music do they like and playes especially for them. People are usually dragged in to the party, no one keeps standing still, everyone needs to dance. However, Dodo was taken through many different musical styles. From house to groovy techno, then deep tech, deep house to tech-house. Today, he likes playing music in the range of house, tech-house to the groovy techno the best. The small experiments - for example deep house session for close friends, are very welcome anyway! |
