For those who`d like to read more - about:

Mr.C. Updated Biography March-2004 (Long Version)

International DJ, innovative producer, founder of Plink Plonk, Shamen front man & co-owner of The End, Mr.C emerged as a pioneering force in the House music scene in 1987 & has continued his proliferation of dance music on a global scale.

His commitment to experimentation & credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavours to take the sounds of the underground to new & more accessable heights.

In 1987, well known House music MC/rapper Mr.C made his first deep house track "Page 67" under the name Myster-E with Evil Eddie Richards on Ed's "Baad" imprint & knew immediately that he had to become a DJ to really learn about & push the House music that he loved.

He then Started his own club night "Fantasy" in '88, London's first straight house night (off course the gay community were there first) at HQ in Camden lock, London, which led to the gaining of a residency at the infamous RIP party's at Clink Street in London Bridge in1988, the summer of love had arrived.

'89 arrived & after the heady days of Clink Street in '88 Mr.C became resident DJ & music co-ordinator of the also infamous "Base" at the "Dungeons" in Lea Bridge Road in East London. These crazy party's continued weekly until the end of '89, this was when C was approached by the the Shamen to perform a rap on a track called "Move Any Mountain" which later went on to be called "Progen".

1990 was a quiet year in terms of Mr.C organising paty's but a crazy year in terms of him playing at all the first big UK rave events, none of which he found to be his cup of tea. The music became to cheesy as all the DJ's at these events tried to steal the limelight by playing the biggest tunes with the biggest bass lines...... rave was born! To big, to impersonal & way to commercial for Mr.C, it was the big raves that forced him back into the warehouses to throw underground party's.
'90 was also the year that saw the return of Mr.C in the studio. He remixed "Eyes" by Midi Rain & "The Pendilino" by Beautyon as well as releasing his own productions with Femi B under the names "Bass Bureau" & "Nu Jacks".

In 1991 C joined the Shamen proper as a full time member of the band & immediately helped to elevate the band into the UK top 10 with the re-release of "Progen" as "progen 91".
This year C also teamed up with Nathan Cole of "Wiggle" & "Get Fucked" fame to organise the "Release" party's. These events became the staple underground house diet for London's more discerning clubbers. By the time it got to the end of '91 the release party's had grown to big for Mr.C's underground vision so he pulled out leaving Nathan to team up with Gary Dillon to form "Release the Groove" which still exists as a record store, label & party organisation to this day.

In 1992 Mr.C teamed up with DJ Unique to form "Harmony". Back to the underground throwing party's for 500 people pushing the new emerging Tribal House sound with Acid overtones as dance music once again started to push the boundary's from the conventional organic house sound of the year before.
This was also the year that not only saw Mr.C form the seminal Techno & House record label "Plink Plonk" & record under the name "Somnambulist" with Plink Plonk partner Paul Rip but also become a huge pop star notching up 4 UK top 10 hits including "Love, Sex, Intelligence", Boss Drum", "Phorever People" & the number 1 hit "Ebeneezer Goode" & winning an Ivor Novelo with the Shamen for "songwriters of the year".

1993 saw Mr.C change the name & concept again of the events he was throwing to stay ahead of London's now truly emerging dance scene. The new name...... "Drop". Experimental party's in Farringdon, London pushing cutting edge House & Techno of the most electronic nature...... ...Tech House was born.
These events were also to showcase the new emerging Plink Plonk talent as well as to see how far a small specialist crowd could be pushed.
This year C also started recording under his new solo name "Mantrac".

1994 saw yet another venue & name change as Plink Plonk moved it's party operations. "Vapourspace" was to be C's first venture into legal night clubs since "Fantasy" as opposed to illegal warehouse & disused studio's. Starting off small at a club for 300 people called Gray's.... Vapourspace soon out grew this venue & moved to the 800 capacity "Site" in Piccadilly. This was also the year he released his first DJ mix CD "Psychotrance" on Moonshine records.

By 1995 Vapourspace also out grew the "Site" & moved to the 2000 capacity venue "The Fridge" in Brixton, London. Here it remained until the Autumn of '95 when Mr.C stopped these events all together to concentrate his energy's solely on the imminent opening of London's newest club venture "The End" which opened 2 days before his 1st release on End recordings with End partner Layo Paskin as "Killer Loop". This year C also released the mix CD "House Classics" on Fantasia records.

'96 saw C & Layo hosting "Flavour" at The End on Fridays which ran for 1 year, a cool house night featuring the likes of Derrick Carter & Sneak as well as organising the once monthly "Subterrain" events which for 7 years was the night that supplied London with the freshest Tech House & Breaks. C also released "Electronic Storm" (X-mix 6) mix CD on studio K7 & together with Layo & Bushwacka started touring as "The End Sound system" working 4 decks, 2 mixers, FX & a mic to dramatic effect.

'97 continued with more of the same, recording as "Killer Loop", residenting at "Subterrain" & touring as "The End Sound System" but it was '98 that was to be a more significant year as this was the year the "Shamen" made their last of 8 albums "UV", then splitting up leaving Mr.C for the first time in his career to record under the name Mr.C on End recordings. The first single was to be "Because" & then shortly after came the teaming up off Mr.C & Robert Owens to release the seminal track "A thing called love" both on End recordings. This was also the year that saw "The End Sound system" record the mix CD "The End 1" on XL recordings.

In '99 C decided to re-launch Plink Plonk after a 3 year hiatus with a new Mantrac 12" as well as releasing further recordings as both Mr.C & with Layo as Killer Loop on the End imprint.

2000 was a busy year for Mr.C in the studio remixing "Makesomebreaksome", "It's Thinking", "Victoria Wilson-James", "James Barth" & "Steve O'Sullivan". Releasing originals as Mr.C, Killer Loop & Mr.C & Tom Parris & releasing "Subterrain 100% unreleased" on End recordings containing 3 more of his own exclusive productions. A new millennium had arrived & was kicked of nicely with C doing the first Essential mix of the Millennium for BBC Radio 1.

In 2001 there was 1 event to completely overshadow all else..... .....Mr.C's wedding to the gorgeous Xochitl on June 9th.

2002 was a huge year for Mr.C as he releases his debut solo album "Change". 3 years in the making this LP was a true reflection of the musical side of the C delivering a lush Album awash with tight rhythms, beautiful strings, enticing melodies & rich vocals. Mr.C the artist had truly arrived albeit after a 15 year wait. 2002 was also the final year of the now legendary "Subterrain" night.

2003 saw the launch of "Superfreak", the night that replaced "Sub..". C got bored with the train spotters at "Subterrain", not enough glamour so out with the old & in with the new, inspired by Ibiza C started "Superfreak" with the aim of creating a night that's still musically cutting edge, electronic & tribal house but with the intention of attracting London's more fashionable clubbers & it worked. Immediately the train spotters disappeared & the freaks started to arrive in their masses.

This led to Mr.C in conjunction with "Underground", Ibiza to start Superfreak on the sunny holiday island every Tuesday at Underground. Almost an anti-Ibiza vibe was formed where people came to party for free unlike most other clubs that charged ¤ 60 entrance to feed the punters cheese.
In it's first year in Ibiza Superfreak was a great success transforming Tuesdays from a recovery night to a specialist must attend night where those that came had to make a decision on what not to go to on Sunday & Monday (the biggest nights in Ibiza). What with "We love..." at Space & "Zenith" at La Diosa on Sunday's, "Circoloco" at DC10, Pin up, "Cocoon" at Amnesia & "Manumission" at Privilege on Monday's & "Carry on" at Space on Tuesday mornings something had to be sacrificed to retain some energy to party with the Freaks on Tuesday nights. No Sheep, only Shepherds & a fantastic new night for Ibiza's more discerning party goers was born.
Superfreak will continue throwing bimonthly events at "The End", has just completed a 2 month tour of Latin America, will throw 1 off events around Europe & look forward to another crazy summer in Ibiza for 2004.

Mr.C has recently released his 1st solo domestic 12" in the USA called "More than just a dream" on Matter://form recordings from New York & his 3rd & final single "Terricola" from his debut album "Change" on End recordings. His next single on "End", "You're a Freak" is due for release in May 2004. He is also currently putting together a double mix CD of tracks that have inspired him over the years to be released on End recordings in the summer/Autumn 2004.
His other current recording projects include a new 12" by the "Sycophant Slags" (Mr.C & Francis Harris) called "Straight Answer" to be released in april on Sexonwax recordings, a new 12" >from Mr.C & Tom Parris to be released in May/june also on Sexonwax, 3 remixes, 1 for Mau Mau, a track called "Lov-e club" to be released April on BTRAX records, France & 1 for FYTA & Ray Willbern to be released in May on Briquerouge records, also France & 1 for Nils Hess called "Circling the sun" release date TBC on Eukahouse records.
C is also working on an exciting new project with Omid 16B.... watch this space.
